Contra Costa Chorale, a non-audition choir with a rich community musical history, is looking for an Artistic Director. Our beloved director, Cindy Beitmen, succumbed to cancer in the spring of 2024, and we seek a dedicated and enthusiastic choral director for our fall 2024 season and potentially beyond.
The Chorale is a community choir open to singers of varied ages, backgrounds and musical experience; we are 80 members strong. We are committed to a high level of performance, striving for excellence in choral performance equal to or better than any non-auditioned community chorus in the San Francisco Bay Area. Our repertoire includes sacred and secular music from the Renaissance through the 21st century and encompasses a variety of styles both popular and traditional. We are looking for a passionate and community-oriented choral director to be entrusted with the musical and educational direction of our group. Responsibilities will include selecting repertoire; conducting both the Chorale and any accompanying vocal soloists, instrumentalists, and piano as required; and collaborating closely with the general manager and the board to coordinate rehearsals and performances. We pride ourselves on our collaborative and inclusive leadership environment fostering creativity and innovation and where the Artistic Director’s expertise and vision will be welcome and respected.
